Services & Fees

***Effective June 28, 2013, the Keck Biotechnology Resource Laboratory will discontinue the following services: Amino Acid Analysis, Protein Sequencing (Edman Degradation), Large- and Small-Scale Peptide Synthesis. Small-Scale Peptide Synthesis is no longer accepting orders. Please contact us for the last dates for order or sample submission related to other services.

Rates as of 7/1/2012

The minimum charge includes a set-up fee and the first 5 amino acids (cycles) of sequence. Additional requested sequence is charged by the number of amino acids that can be positively assigned. For example, if 15 amino acids are requested but we can only assign 12 amino acids, the charge would be for 12 amino acids. Database searching of detected sequences is included in the cost.

Consulting Rate (per hour): $55 (Yale) + $90 (Non-Yale)

Yale: $375 (first 5 amino acids) + $55 per additional amino acid (Only if Positively Identified)

Ex: 12 amino acids = $375 + (7 x $55) = $760

Non-Yale: $435 (first 5 amino acids) + $65 per additional amino acid (Only if Positively Identified)

Ex: 12 amino acids = $435 + (7 x $65) = $890

Radio-Sequencing: Charged the same as normal sequencing. Collecting each cycle for scintillation counting means that the amino acids are not identified and searched against the NCBI nr database. However, the time spent drying the fractions, scintillation counting, and wipe-testing the instrument afterward is equivalent to the time spent processing a normal sequence.
