Zahirah McNatt, MHSA is the Director for Leadership Education and Practice at Yale’s Global Health Leadership Institute (GHLI) and Project Director for Leadership Saves Lives (LSL), a team-based, interventional study aimed at reducing AMI mortality through leadership development and organizational culture change. Her current role involves the management of research and intervention activities with 10 US partner hospitals and the implementation of public health and human rights programs across the globe.
Ms. McNatt has facilitated leadership development programs for various audiences including senior government officials, policy makers, medical directors and administrators. She has also implemented hospital quality improvement projects in the US and abroad in heart failure care, surgical safety, and patient satisfaction. Prior to her current role, Ms. McNatt spent 3 years in Ethiopia working to improve hospital quality through the creation of degree programs, national quality improvement initiatives and health systems research. She has also worked to develop chronic disease outreach programs and educational opportunities for physicians and administrators. She recently supported the development of strategies for improving access to services for people with disabilities who reside in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Sudan and Zambia and has extended this work to South East Asia.
Her current interest is in facilitating the creation of innovative and effective approaches to health and development, both in the US and abroad. Ms. McNatt has a BA from Cornell University and an MHSA from the University of Michigan, School of Public Health. Ms. McNatt is currently a board member with the Child Health Foundation.
