Biographical Info

Dr. Martinello's major research interests include the molecular epidemiology and the transmission of respiratory viruses; specifically respiratory syncytial virus and influenza. In addition, Dr. Martinello is interested in the epidemiology, impact and prevention of healthcare associated infections including ventilator associated pneumonia, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Clolstridium difficile. Dr. Martinello directs the office of Clinical Public Health for the Veterans Health Administration. VHA Clinical Public Health primarily focuses on HIV, viral hepatitis, influenza, hand hygiene, biosurveillance, public health preparedness and response, outbreak investigations and tobacco and health for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
