John H. Sinard MD, PhD

Professor of Pathology and of Ophthalmology and Visual Science; Director, Pathology Informatics; Associate Director, Anatomic Pathology

Research Interests

Medical informatics

Research Summary

I am interested in the use of computers and information technology to promote the practice and teaching of anatomic pathology. Current work includes developing enhancements to our department's clinical information system(s) to improve workflow in the department.

Extensive Research Description

My current research interests are in the fields of autopsy pathology and pathology informatics. I am currently involved in the development of computer assisted teaching material for pathology education, and building a cancer data repository for the institution.

Other Expertise

I am interested in developing database driven web "pages" to deliver educational and clinical material to the user, and to allow searching for specific information. I am also interested in developing electronic tools to assist the pathologist at signout.
