Dr. Ali is a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics and provides clinical care at the Yale Adult and Pediatric Integrative Medicine Clinic.
His clinical practice focuses on the prevention and treatment of chronic disease, including pain syndromes and medically unexplained conditions.
He is principal investigator of clinical and translational studies in fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, food sensitivity, diagnostic tests, the human microbiome, and integrative medicine outcomes, supported by federal, foundation, and industry. He had leadership roles in a number of clinical trials of complementary therapies, including massage therapy, dietary supplements, and nutritional interventions. He is currently supported by a NIH/NCCIH Career Development Award (K23) to study mindfulness meditation in chronic widespread pain/fibromyalgia in adolescents. He is a founding Director of Integrative Medicine at Yale and part of the Executive Committee/Board of Directors of the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health.
He was previously co-director of the Integrative Medicine Center at Griffin Hospital and Assistant Director of Complementary Medicine Research at the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center.
