Biography

Alexandria (Xandi) Garino joined Yale in 2006 as academic coordinator and is currently the Interim Director of the Yale Physician Associate Program. Committed to the education of competent and compassionate PA clinicians, Xandi directs the Behavioral and Preventive Medicine course. She teaches various topics in medicine, history taking, motivational interviewing, and physical exam skills. Her administrative responsibilities include curriculum development, student assessment, and program evaluation. She has 20+ years of administrative and faculty experience in higher education and serves as a national leader for faculty development workshops designed to transition clinicians into new roles as educators. Xandi is a practicing PA at the Yale Cancer Center and works on the malignant hematology service. She graduated from Catholic Medical Center’s PA Program in 1999 and earned a MS in biostatistics and clinical research design at Columbia University’s School of Public Health. She is currently completing a PhD in education at Fordham University. Her scholarly interests include motivation and self-assessment.
