Biographical Info

I joined the Yale PEM faculty in 2008, having completed my pediatrics training at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and a PEM fellowship at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. My academic career is based on investigations and interventions targeted at improving the quality of pediatric emergency care globally. I authored the first review of global pediatric emergency care and co-authored the first textbook chapter on PEM in the developing world for the 19th Edition of Nelson Pediatrics. I serve as a member and/or officer for the international EM sections of ACEP and SAEM. I have been an invited speaker at many international conferences on the topics of global PEM. I am also the recipient of a 2010-2011 Fulbright Scholar Grant. I worked clinically and lectured at the College of Medicine of the University of Malawi and its associated teaching hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre from January to June 2011. While there I piloted the feasibility of a pediatric trauma registry. I am currently involved in efforts to expand research in that area.
