Dr. David Chia graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his residency training at the Yale Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Program. He subsequently joined the core faculty of the Yale School of Medicine in 2012 and was awarded the George Thornton Teacher of the Year Award in 2015. He was the firm chief of Waterbury Hospital with the Yale Primary Care Residency Program before becoming the Associate Program Director of Inpatient Education for the Yale-Waterbury Internal Medicine Residency Program and medical student site director for University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University Schools of Medicine. His academic interests include infectious disease, quality improvement, curricular innovation, point-of-care ultrasound, and global health. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the world. He has travelled to nearly 70 countries, studied epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and worked in resource-limited settings in sub-Saharan Africa.
