Lacey grew up in Watkinsville, Georgia. She went to Harvard University for undergrad, majoring in English and the rowing team. She completed medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, where she was involved in high school student mentoring and the student-run homeless clinic. During medical school, she received her MPH from the University of California, Berkeley, concentrating in health policy and management. Her thesis focused on ways to expand the primary care workforce in California. Lacey chose med/peds because of her interests in quality improvement and health systems change, especially surrounding transitions of care across the lifespan. She chose Yale because of the excellent mentoring and close-knit residency program. Despite the cold, Lacey has fallen in love with Connecticut.
