Pre-Interview Dinner

We will not hold a Pre-Interview Dinner the night prior to the preliminary interview days. However, you will have the opportunity to interact privately during your interview day with residents and faculty.

What's the Interview Day Like?

Parking
If you drive, please park in the Air-Rights Garage; the main parking garage for Yale-New Haven Hospital. Air-Rights Garage is the only parking lot the Residency Program can validate or pay for your parking. Present your Air-Rights Garage parking ticket at the morning's registration desk to have your parking ticket validated/stamped. Air-Rights Garage PARKING; Yale-New Haven Hospital directions.

Where Does the Interview Day Begin?
The Internal Medicine Preliminary interview days begin in the Beaumont Room – SHM L-221A located on the 2nd Floor of the Sterling Hall of Medicine. See directions and address below. You may also refer to the Map of Interview Day buildings and the Interactive Yale School of Medicine Campus Map.

Enter 333 Cedar Street (Sterling Hall of Medicine Building). Turn right at the guard desk and see stairwell on the left just before entrance to the library. Take the stairs to the 2nd floor and turn left. Take first left and go up short flight of stairs. At end of hallway you will enter circular rotunda and on the other side is the rotunda walkway is the Beaumont Room. Please go to the registration table set-up outside the Beaumont Room on the right.  

8:00 a.m. - Registration opens. Please arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. when we begin the day. Continental breakfast will be served. You will receive an individualized schedule upon registration and each applicant will receive one interview. If you need to, you may bring your luggage and it will be locked in a secure location for you until you depart.

General Schedule
Your preliminary interview day will include a faculty interview, in-depth informational sessions about our preliminary internship track, morning report, and tours of the Yale University/Yale–New Haven Hospital. You will receive an individualized itinerary the morning you arrive with the name of your faculty interviewer (we can not provide your itinerary with the names of your faculty interviewer in advance).

2:00 p.m. - Your preliminary interview day will conclude at approximately 2:00 pm. Please do not schedule any departures any earlier than 2:30 p.m. out of New Haven, Tweed Airport or New Haven. Union Station (train) in New Haven, CT is less than 10 minutes away from the Sterling Hall of Medicine at 333 Cedar Street and Yale offers free shuttles from Sterling to the train station. If you are departing from Bradley International Airport it will take you up to one and one-half hours travel time from New Haven with rush-hour traffic.
