Biography

Residency: Yale-New Haven Hospital - Yale University

Research: I am interested in studying interventions for individuals seeking treatment for tobacco dependence. I am currently conducting a pilot study to investigate the effects of adding an electronic cigarette (EC) to a standard tobacco smoking treatment program. My project seeks to determine what role, if any, ECs play in changing tobacco smoking behavior and affecting lung function, mechanisms by which ECs may modify smoking behavior, and populations for which ECs may have the greatest impact in curtailing tobacco use. I am also collaborating with investigators in the department of Psychiatry and the Yale Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science (TCORS) to use novel PET neuro-imaging techniques to study EC effects on brain beta 2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in healthy adult users.

Mentors: Dr. Geoffrey Chupp, Dr. Lynn Tanoue, Dr. Steven Bernstein (Department of Emergency Medicine), Dr. Benjamin Toll (Department of Psychiatry)
