Associate Professor of Medicine (Geriatrics); Associate Chief for Clinical Affairs (Geriatrics)

Biographical Info

Dr. Walke is the Associate Chief for Clinical Affairs for the Section of Geriatrics; in this capacity she oversees all of the clinical programs for the section across both campuses and throughout the community. Dr. Walke is a graduate of the Yale Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology. She has been the recipient of the John A. Hartford/American Federation for Aging Research Academic Geriatric Fellowship, the Merck/American Geriatrics Society New Investigator Award, a R01 Diversity Supplement, and the Hartford Geriatrics Health Outcomes Research Award.

Dr. Walke is the founder and faculty advisor for the Geriatrics Student Interest Group;the site director for the AFAR directed Medical Student Training in Aging Research program which funds medical students who conduct aging research during the summer; and the founder and course director for the Practice Based Learning Exchange, an international experience that teaches Yale medical students about the healthcare system of the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Walke’s goal is to develop and implement innovative models of care that improve safety and quality of care for older adults. She developed the Geriatric Consultation Service for Yale New Haven Hospital—York Street Campus, has been instrumental in the relocation and remodeling of the inpatient Geriatric unit and is developing a Senior-Friendly Emergency Department on the St. Raphael's Campus. She is in the process of creating a coordinated, patient-centered Geriatrics Service Line to meet the unique needs of older adults.
