Alexandra J. Lansky,
MD, FESC, FACC,
is Director of the Yale Cardiovascular Research Group (YCRG) and Director of the Yale Valve Program housed within the Yale School of Medicine. Dr.
Lansky is Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and a practicing clinical
cardiologist at Yale-New Haven Hospital, in New Haven, CT.
Dr. Lansky joined Yale in
2010. From 1994 to 2010 Dr. Lansky acted as Joint Chief Scientific Officer for
the Clinical Trials Center and Director of the Women’s Cardiovascular Health
Initiative at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation. During this time Dr.
Lansky was Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University
College of Physicians and Surgeons, Director of Clinical Services at the Center
for Interventional Vascular Therapy, and a practicing clinical cardiologist at
New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, in New York,
NY. Previous to that she was an interventional cardiologist on faculty at
Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, and at Lenox Hill Hospital in New
York, NY.
Throughout her career has
served as the principal investigator on numerous angiographic and intravascular
ultrasound core laboratory studies. Under her leadership, the Yale Women’s
Heart Center pursues gender-based outcomes research and education in
interventional cardiology and prevention. As part of her work at YCRG, Dr.
Lansky serves as the Medical Director of HeartHealthyWomen.org, a Department of
Health and Human Services-sponsored Web site for the treatment of women with
cardiovascular diseases. (www.hearthealthywomen.org)
She is the lead author of the American Heart
Association Statement on Interventional Cardiology in Women. Dr. Lansky has
authored and coauthored over 200 academic peer-reviewed manuscripts and book
chapters in the fields of interventional cardiology, angiography, and women’s
cardiovascular health.
Dr. Lansky is board certified
in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. A graduate of the Medical
College of Virginia in Richmond, VA, she received her residency training in
internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology at Washington
Hospital Center, Washington DC. Dr. Lansky is a Fellow of the European Society
of Cardiologists and the American College of Cardiology.
