Dr. Aldo Peixoto is Professor of Medicine (Nephrology), Associate Chair for Ambulatory Services Operations and Quality (Department of Internal Medicine), and Clinical Chief of the Section of Nephrology.
He is a graduate of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Florianopolis, Brazil), received his training in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut and completed his Nephrology fellowship at Yale.
His major clinical expertise is consultative hypertension, particularly resistant hypertension, renovascular disease, hyperaldosteronism, and cardiovascular dysautonomia. His clinical interests also include polycystic kidney disese and general consultative nephrology.
His research interests focus on the interplay between kidney disease and hypertension, including studies on arterial mechanics, hemodynamic monitoring, BP monitoring, and methods of delivery of care in hypertension. He is an associate editor of Blood Pressure Monitoring and a member of the editorial boards of the American Journal of Nephrology and the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and is the co-author of a bedside diagnosis book.
