Due to the far-reaching and complex nature of occupational and environmental exposures and illness, environmental and occupational health professionals are often asked to intercede in legal disputes between various parties. Based on our breadth of practice and research experiences, YOEMP faculty are able to offer the large range of specific, recognized expertise that is paramount to assisting parties of every perspective and persuasion resolve their dispute with the best outcome possible. Whether the problem involves numerous parties, such as a complex and far-reaching class-action suit involving a chemical exposure, or at the individual level, including disability ratings or attribution of cause for a specific case, our faculty can provide advice and consultation, from the earliest “what information to collect” phase through the conduct of case review and development of formal opinions, and if necessary, deposition and trial testimony. Although faculty may choose cases based on interest and perceived importance, geography per se is not a limitation for provision of these services.
