Fellowship

Thank you for your interest in postdoctoral training in Infectious Diseases at the Yale University School of Medicine.

Our training program is designed to prepare postdoctoral fellows for academic and/or clinical careers in the disciplines of Infectious Disease. We offer a combined clinical/research fellowship that is three (or more) years in duration and includes one year of full-time clinical training and two (or more) years of clinical or laboratory research. This is the pathway followed by the majority of Yale ID fellows. We also offer a straight clinical fellowship that is two years in duration for individuals who intend to pursue educator careers in infectious disease. Research training is supported by a training grant from the National Institutes of Health. Infectious Disease fellows may participate in the Investigative Medicine Ph.D. Program, the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program, and other didactic training programs within the Department of Medicine as part of their research training.

The section of Infectious Diseases at Yale Medical School is committed to the training of academically oriented Infectious Diseases specialists. The Infectious Diseases section at Yale provides unique opportunities for fellows to:

  1. develop diagnostic and management skills of an
    Infectious Disease consultant,
  2. develop and complete patient oriented research projects
  3. investigate the pathogenesis of infectious diseases in laboratory or translational research projects.

Infectious Diseases fellows at Yale are introduced to and can choose to participate actively in the research endeavors of many laboratories and clinical research programs.

This page was designed to provide you with an overview of training in Infectious Disease at Yale. If you would like to learn more about our program, we urge you to submit an application and visit us.
