Clinical Responsibilities
- Inpatient: pediatric, medical, and tuberculosis wards
- Outpatient: antiretroviral clinic (most physician-scholars spend bulk of time at this location,) and hospice which serves as step-down like facility for patients with HIV/TB co-infection and multi-system disease
- ER/Casualty: Optional rotation with possibility of overnight call
- Community outreach: home visits to rural countryside as well as mobile-clinic on department of health van
- Lectures: opportunity to present at weekly case conference
- Opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical research related to TB and HIV co infection
Personnel Needed
- Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine
Length of Rotation
- Minimum of 6 weeks, including travel time from US

- Reimbursement Award amount: $3000
- Transportation from Durban to Tugela Ferry is provided
- Available housing: onsite in park homes with kitchen/bathroom. May share with other hospital workers
- Language requirements: English. Local language is Zulu
- Paperwork: allow several months for the processing of the Foreign Workforce Management Programme and the Health Professions Council of South Africa applications
