Diabetes Translational Core

The objective of the Diabetes Translational Research Core (DTRC) is to provide the Diabetes Center members with specialized expertise in the performance of clinical studies in diabetes and metabolism of all ranges of complexity, and to provide training and education for the development of next generation of clinical researchers in diabetes.

The Yale Diabetes Research Center maintains a close collaborative relationship with the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI), which is supported in part by the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA). The partnership between the Yale DRC and the YCCI has allowed the development of an integrated and efficient infrastructure to support diabetes research and clinical research education on a level not previously possible. The services that are offered include outpatient and hospital based clinical research facilities with experienced clinical research staff. The staff have expertise in metabolic studies that range from metabolic clamps, advanced imaging methods, Phase I and later phase clinical studies, and routine study procedures. The facility also provides point of care testing, research diets, sample collections and processing, and access to analyte measurements. The design, collection and analysis of data is supported through arrangements with the Yale Center for Analytic Sciences. This resource can serve as the coordinating center for investigator initiated trials at Yale and for multicenter studies. In addition, IND support and site monitoring is available to investigators through the relationship with the YCCI.
