David Assis
David received his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College and completed internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was also Chief Resident. His main interests include transplant hepatology and drug-induced liver injury.

Maya Balakrishnan
Maya received her M.D./MPH from Harvard and completed her residency in the Primary Care Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital where she was also Chief Resident. Her interests include hepatic manifestations of diabetes mellitus; the potential effects of obesity and metabolic syndrome in cirrhosis; and immunodeficiency and infection in the cirrhotic patient.

Khurram Bari
Khurram received his MBBS from King Edward Medical College and completed his internship/residency at Wright State University. His main interests include portal hypertension, iron deficiency anemia, and celiac disease.

Wen Boynton
Wen received her M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven hospital. Her main interests include gastrointestinal issues in the geriatric population and the aging process.

Bani Chander
Bani received her M.D. at New York University where she also stayed on to complete her internship/residency training. Her interests include inflammatory bowel disease, IBS and the role of ethnicity and gender in colorectal cancer screening, and medical education.

Taneisha Grant
Taneisha received her M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her residency training at Yale New Haven Hospital/Primary Care Program. Her interests include disorders that affect gut motility and nutrition.

Henry Ho
Henry received his M.D. from UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed his internship/residency training at the University of Virginia. Henry's interest is in advanced Endoscopy.

Amy Kim
Amy received her M.D. from Medical College of Virginia and completed her internship/residency at Duke University. Her background is in acute and chronic disease management central to Hepatology.

Jason Kinzel
Jason received his M.D. from Tufts University and went on to complete his Internship/Residency at Tufts Medical Center, where he was also Chief Resident. Prior to starting his fellowship, Jason was a hospitalist for one year at South Shore Hospital in Massachusetts. His background is in hepatology and his interests include advanced endoscopy as well as GI oncology. He is originally from Boston, MA.

Peter Le
Peter received his M.D. from the University of Connecticut and completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. His research interests include EUS combined with FNA in the evaluation of suspicious pancreatic masses.

Kavitha Nandigam
Kavitha received her M.D. from the Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medicine and Research in India and completed her residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Her research interests include evaluating diagnostic accuracy of biliary brushing cytology and biopsy in the detection of cholangiocarcinoma in patients with biliary strictures.

Nipaporn Pichetshote
Niki received her M.D. from Tufts University and completed her internship/residency at the University of California, San Diego. Prior to her fellowship, Niki was a hospitalist for one year at St. Luke’s in New Bedford, MA. Her background is in the role of canalicular transporters in the liver.

Violeta Popov
Violeta received her M.D. from the University of Sofia, Bulgari and completed her residency at New York Medical College. She also completed a Geriatric fellowship at The Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. Her interests include hepatocellular carcinoma and liver transplant.

Hamita Sachar
Hamita received her M.D. from The University of Buffalo and completed her residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Her research interests include the ability to better measure the incidence of carcinoma in patients found to have serrated polyps during screening.

Ara Sahakian
Ara received his M.D. from New York Medical College and completed his residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. His interests include gut motility and IBS.

Frederick Shieh
Fred received his M.D. from Boston University and completed his residency at the University of Michigan. His interests include colorectal cancer screening.

Silvia Vilarinho
Silvia received her M.D. from the University of Porto, Portugal, performed her PhD research studies at University of California San Francisco, and then completed internship at University of Minnesota and residency at Yale New-Haven Hospital, where she is enrolled in the Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology Physician-Scientist Pathway. Her research interests include understanding regulation of immune tolerance and immune activation within the liver.
