The Section of Cardiovascular Medicine conducts a wide range of clinical research activities at the frontiers of cardiovascular medicine. Through the Yale Cardiovascular Research Group (YCRG), we also provide comprehensive clinical trial management services to support single- and multi-center national and international clinical trials of cardiovascular drugs and devices.

Michael Simons, MD – Dr. Simons is the Robert W. Berliner Professor of Medicine (Cardiology), Section Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine, and Director of the Yale Cardiovascular Research Center.

Alexandra J. Lansky, MD – Dr. Lansky is Director of Interventional Cardiology Research at the Yale School of Medicine, Director of the Yale Cardiovascular Research Group, and Co-Director of the Valve Program at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Lansky has served as principal investigator for a broad range of interventional clinical trials and led the core laboratory analysis of hundreds of studies. Her expertise also includes cardiovascular device evaluation for US, EU, and Asia Pacific regulatory approval.


Louise Gambone, RN, BA – Ms. Gambone is the Director of Operations of the Yale Cardiovascular Research Group. Ms. Gambone has more than 20 years of experience in medical device development and clinical research in industry and academia. Her experience includes regulatory strategy development and submissions, site selection and initiation, quality systems implementation, data management, and safety monitoring and reporting.


International Partnerships

The Yale-University College London Clinical Research Partnership is a unique collaboration that combines the expertise of leading European scientists and clinicians to advance cardiovascular research with early device evaluation in the European arena. The current focus of this initiative is the Yale-UCL Device Development Program, and also includes several First-In-Man and CE-mark clinical trials for coronary and structural cardiovascular devices.
