Programs

The primary educational focus in the Immunobiology is its Graduate Program, which is designed to provide the education, intellectual support and supervision necessary for students to obtain a Ph.D. degree in Immunology. In addition, faculty interested in translational immunology can participate in the department's new Human Translational Immunology program. Graduate Program

The Yale Immunobiology Graduate Program is an independent component of the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) Program of Yale Graduate School. It is designed to provide the education, intellectual support and supervision necessary for students to obtain the Ph.D. degree in Immunology. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary training and collaborative and interactive research, an approach based on the idea that solving difficult problems requires the integration of individuals with common goals but differing expertise.

Immunobiology Courses

First year students will typically take two to three courses per semester and will conduct two to four lab rotations over the course of the year. Courses and rotations are available throughout the University, both on "Science Hill" on the main campus and at the School of Medicine.

Science Education Outreach Program

Science Education Outreach Program, SEOP, is a successful outreach program that has been in place since 1995. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the sciences at Yale carry out projects in genetics in the New Haven Middle Schools going together as teams of 3 per classroom. We focus on middle school to capture the spirit of curiosity of young people before they decide whether science is "cool" or not.
