Students studying at medical school who are in their final year of medical school are eligible to enroll in one or two four-week clinical elective(s).
Application Deadline - We recommend that we receive your application 4-5 months before the start of your chosen elective.
Read the descriptions of electives carefully before listing your choices. You may not change your choice of elective after you have been approved. Students may not apply for more than two clinical electives, for a maximum of eight weeks at Yale School of Medicine. If you apply for two electives, they must be taken in consecutive date periods and be on different clinical services.
The tuition for a four-week clinical elective for students from international schools is $2500. The tuition for eight weeks is $5000.
Students have the option of living in the Harkness Dormitory across the street from Yale-New Haven Hospital. We offer a limited number of single rooms. The cost for one month of housing is $1000. The housing cost for two months is $2000.
We estimate that minimum living expenses for a month will amount to at least $1000.
Before submitting your application, please review Tentative List of Electives Not Available.
