Between college and medical school I spent a year doing public health research in Pakistan (6 months in the rural Northern Areas, 6 months in urban Karachi), and a year management consulting in New York. I did a combined MD/MBA at Harvard, and spent a year between medical school and residency living and working in Sweden, where I helped a start-up hospital company develop their quality program and develop an integrated diabetes specialty clinic.
