I did medical genetics research at NIH/NHGRI for two years prior to starting medical school. Before that, my only consistent "job" was selling things on eBay.

I chose Yale because of the faculty, academic resources, and amazing training opportunities. The food carts outside of the hospital helped the decision-making process a little as well.
Random factoid:I sat on an inflatable doughnut for a month after fracturing my pelvis in a car accident.
