Bridgeport Hospital, a member of the Yale-New Haven Health System, is a 425-bed community teaching hospital. Located 20 miles south of New Haven in Fairfield County. Bridgeport Hospital began as a 48-bed community hospital in 1884 under the inspired guidance of its first board president, the American showman P.T. Barnum.
