More than 85 percent of medical students participate in at least one community service program during their Yale education. We’ve made it easy for you to get involved and to participate in a community program that dovetails with your interests and suits your schedule.
The Committee Overseeing Volunteer Services (COVS) is the central clearinghouse for students in the Yale health professional schools who are interested in community service programs in New Haven. COVS maintains a list of community programs that address a diverse range of needs as well as student interests. More than 20 student-run programs work with local schools, community groups, and Yale-New Haven Hospital to provide services to the community. Participation is flexible and can accommodate varying levels of time commitment.
Visit the COVS website for a complete list of community service programs or for more information.
