Alpern, M.D.

2009-2010 Medical Student Council Perspectives on Medicine Series
Perspectives on Medicine brings a variety of speakers to the Sterling Hall of Medicine for talks on medical education, clinical medicine, public health, biomedical research and the state of the school. Past speakers have included university President Richard C. Levin, former surgeon general C. Everett Koop, M.D., pediatric neurosurgeon Benjamin S. Carson, M.D., and medical school Dean Robert J. Alpern, M.D. Topics range from the impact of the 80-hour work week for residents to the status of women in medicine to race-based disparities in health care.
Meetings are open to the Yale and medical center community and are held in Hope 110, 315 Cedar St., from 1 to 2 p.m. Lunch is served at 1 p.m., and presentations begin ten minutes later.
