Welcome to the Yale Diagnostic Radiology residency program. Our program offers world-class training and research opportunities in one of the largest hospital systems in the United States. Serving the greater New Haven area, Yale New Haven Hospital provides cutting-edge care within a wide spectrum of specialties. The Diagnostic Radiology department is at the forefront of innovative, high-quality, patient-focused care and research.
Our residency program offers a total of 55 ACGME approved positions, ranking among the top 5 largest programs in the country. Our residents have performed exceptionally well on the new American Board of Radiology’s CORE examination and have graduated to train at many of the premier fellowship positions in the country. Over the last three years, our residents have been accepted to positions in the following:

Many of our residents prefer to stay with us for fellowship and faculty positions. In fact, over 50% of our recent residents have elected to remain at Yale for their post-residency training. Fellowship offerings at Yale New Haven Hospital include Body Imaging, Breast Imaging, Cardiac Imaging, MRI, Nuclear Radiology, Interventional, Musculoskeletal Imaging, and Neuroradiology in addition to innovative, hybrid programs. We have an extensive and growing network of Yale Radiology graduates across the country. Our residents will graduate having been optimally trained to excel in both academic and private practices.
Through the years about 30 percent of our graduates have joined academic practices and occupy faculty positions at some of the most prestigious institutions in the nation. The program director, Jamal Bokhari, MB, BS-MD, is very proud that several former residents have become residency program directors in academic institutions around the country.
