Biographical Info

Behnood Bikdeli MD joined CORE as a Postdoctoral Associate in July 2011. With a longstanding passion for cardiovascular medicine, he has worked on several cardiovascular projects from histopathologic studies to development of clinical practice guidelines. A graduate of Shahid Beheshti University MC in Iran, prior to joining CORE he had collaborated with several local and international organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Heart Failure Society and has travelled to several countries for scientific presentations. Besides venous thromboembolism and atherosclerosis which constitute major areas of his interest and publications, he is particularly interested in clinical studies in the context of heart failure. In Iran, he worked as a clinical and research associate at the heart failure and heart transplant unit of Masih-Daneshveri Hosptail, a WHO-collaborating university hospital. Working under Dr. Krumholz, he is contributing several projects at CORE. He is studying the recent trends in hospitalizations and outcomes of endocarditis in the US older adults, following the release of restricted prophylaxis recommendations by the American Heart Association. He is also part of a team to study the patterns of use of diuretics and intravenous fluids in acute decompensated heart failure. In addition, he is contributing to studies concerning the effects of neighborhood of residence on the outcomes of patients with heart failure (Tele-HF) and acute myocardial infarction (VIRGO). He is also conducting a focused systematic review of major recent cardiovascular trials under Drs. Krumholz and Ross. Dr. Bikdeli is also a member of the Yale team for the China PEACE study.
