Research & Education

Paralysis, Pain and Preservation of nervous system function are the central themes of our research. Using two broad sets of approaches—cell-based and molecular-based—we examine the nervous system at the cellular and molecular level to study key biochemical and physiological events affecting nervous system function. While our greatest contributions have been in areas of fundamental research, we have made significant progress in recent years, particularly in areas of inter-related basic and translational studies, bringing approaches closer to application in humans.
