The Golgi complex is comprised of several membrane stacks (cisternae), where various enzymes responsible for post-translational modification of newly synthesized proteins are located.

I am interested in understanding the molecular mechanism by which Golgi resident proteins such as glycosyltransferases and SNAREs/tethers, achieve their steadystate localization within the Golgi. In particular, I am studying the role of different isoforms of COPI coatomer in mediating intra-Golgi trafficking of these proteins. I use biochemistry, cell biology and advanced imaging techniques including recently developed Super-resolution fluorescent imaging technique named "STORM" to answer these questions.
