Biographical Info

Preston Sprenkle, M.D., earned his medical degree from Columbia University Medical College and completed his residency in urology at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Fellowship trained in urologic oncology, Dr. Sprenkle specializes in urologic cancers, including prostate cancer, kidney cancer, and acute kidney injury.
He is dedicated to improving the treatment and diagnosis process for patients with urologic cancers and to creating a personalized approach for each of his patients. He views the journey toward health as a partnership with his patients and invites them to be a part of the decisions regarding their treatment process. His combined knowledge of urologic cancers and his surgical expertise in traditional, minimally invasive, and advanced surgical techniques, such as robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery, allows him to provide his patients with the best treatment options for their specific condition and unique needs while considering their preferences, goals, and concerns. His advanced surgical techniques include nerve-sparing prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, cystectomy, and lymph node dissection.
His research interests include prostate cancer active surveillance for cases that do not require surgery or radiation, working with new imaging technology to improve the diagnosis of prostate cancer, finding a way to use current imaging technology to improve prostate cancer biopsy procedures with the future hope of eliminating the need for unnecessary biopsies, and creating focal therapy for prostate cancer. Dr. Sprenkle has implemented the use of the Artemis Device, a 3-D imaging and navigation technology for more targeted prostate biopsies.
