| Melanoma Research Expanded The Melanoma Research Alliance has selected investigators at Yale to receive the 2009 Team Science Award of $1 million in direct cost. The team is composed of Dr. Ruth Halaban, principal investigator, and Drs. Mario Sznol, Michael Krauthammer, Marcus Bosenberg, and David Stern, co-investigators. The funds are dedicated to support sequencing of the melanoma genome and epigenome. Their research is part of the Yale SPORE in Skin Cancer and will draw from the resources of the program and enable the team to build on the successful translational research efforts in melanoma at Yale Cancer Center.
The Connecticut Challenge
This year's Connecticut Challenge will take place on Saturday, July 25th in Fairfield. The annual bike ride raises funds to support survivorship programs in Connecticut, including the Connecticut Challenge Survivorship Clinic at Yale Cancer Center and the HEROS Clinic. If you are interested in riding with the Yale Cancer Center team, please contact Margaret Sasaki or Tom Quinn.

Shared Resource Highlight
Animal Genomics Animal Genomics Services creates transgenic and gene-targeted mouse models for Yale investigator research. The group provides guidance and resources for experimental methodology implementing genetically engineered mice and aims to provide full "idea to mouse" gene targeting services with the recent addition of targeting vector construction. In addition, the service offers cryopreservation of mouse embryos as a repository for genetically unique strains and plans to make sperm cryopreservation available in the near future. Animal Genomics also offers custom services involving embryonic stem cell technology and early mouse embryogenesis.
