Research Interests

My interests are mainly in the areas of image registration and segmentation. I am currently working on an NIH funded project (PI: James Duncan) on adaptive prostate radiotherapy. Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) has the capacity to deliver a precisely shaped treatment plan to fit the target organs, but is limited by the lack of a proper image-guidance system. My colleagues and I are developing an integrated registration cum segmentation platform that uses 3DCT and 3DCBCT (Cone Beam CT) images to achieve this goal. Once fully developed, this platform will perform fully automatic nonrigid registration of relevant images while simultaneously segmenting the target organs. My other interests are in tools such as Bayesian analysis, nonlinear optimization methods, and Monte Carlo based simulations.
