An important aspect of graduate training at Yale University is the acquisition of teaching skills through participation in courses appropriate for the students’ scientific interests. These opportunities may be in lecture, laboratory, and seminar courses given at the undergraduate, graduate, or medical school level. Students admitted into participating degree programs within BBS are required to participate in two semesters (or its equivalent) of teaching during their tenure at Yale. Students are not expected to teach during their first year. Abundant opportunities to gain essential teaching skills are available through the Yale Center for Teaching and Learning
, whose staff and graduate student Teaching Consultants design and run workshops tailor-made for BBS students.
