Resident Clinical Scientist Track
Each year, one or two residents have the opportunity to devote a portion of their CA-3 year to a six-month rotation on the Clinical Scientist Track (CST). The CST provides residents with a chance to devote a block of time to clinical or laboratory research. It is offered as a six-month block during the CA-3 year, or as 18 months of research over the CA-2, CA-3, and an additional CA-4 year.
The CST program enables the resident to serve as a Principal Investigator in a study. Under the direction of a faculty member, the resident is expected to:
- Detail his/her plan in the application for the Clinical Scientist Track
- Participate actively in the design and performance of studies, data analysis, and submission of manuscripts for presentation and publication
- Attend research seminars and discussions in an effort to broaden her/his research experience
